This painting makes me think of the style used by Cezanne. The slightly abstract merging patterning of the background and foreground creates a sense of shapes moving so fast that they are undefined and blurred. The palette knife moved rapidly to echo the wild energy and swift pace of the wild horses. The dusty ground is kicked up into a gritty fog as the horses pass by.
