Early in 2021 we moved to Sherkin Island in West Cork, and I’m lucky enough to have the most beautiful studio which we actually built ourselves. Big panoramic windows, and filled with light…as an artist friend said, only happy paintings will be painted here!

Outside my studio I’m surrounded by a vast expanse of blue sea and sky, the wild coastline and the vibrant hedgerows…a total immersion in nature. From the busy harbour of Baltimore and the brightly coloured boats to the solitude of the headlands in winter, there is endless inspiration.

I’ve always loved the blackberry, especially in spring! I love the way there are some pink blossoms and some white, so delicate against their fiercely sharp thorns,  and the happy wild tangle they make, threading through the hedgerows intent on taking over the world. This is my respectful nod to their delightful magnificence!
