Alighting on the Sands at Low Tide is the largest in my series of seabirds at the shoreline. In this painting, it is a hazy day, conditions are calm, not as wild as some of the series! Oyster Catchers glide in to the sandy shore, taking their place beside each other at the water’s edge. Waves wash over shallow rocks, and off in the distance sea and sky meet at an indistict horizon.

Living here on Sherkin Island we are surrounded by the sea, immersed in the peace of nature and it’s timeless patterns. Even on a wild day there is peace in the predictability of the tides and the cycle of life.
