Summer River Reflections
The painting is based on a scene from Killarney National Park. Known locally as The Riverwalk, a path follows beside the River Deenagh as it flows through the Demesne from Deenagh Lodge down to Lough Leane. Kingfishers are often seen here, rhododendron flowers reflect shades of purple, yellow and green in the gently flowing river, and it is a beautiful peaceful place.
During the weekend workshop, we will each complete a painting on a canvas 16×20 inches, working from photographs and also a finished painting which I have prepared. I demonstrate each stage, as we go along explaining and analysing the techniques and colours that I have used. Participants then paint each stage step-by-step with me. There are up to 8 in the group and there will usually be a mixture of brush & palette knife.
The workshop is live on-line via Zoom from my studio near Killarney, Co Kerry.
It is aimed at beginner and intermediate level, and I like to focus on giving as much information on methods and techniques as possible, so that people have something to work with when painting afterwards.
