Description

Another painting inspired by our 3 month stay in Spain. The nasturtiums were flowering all through the winter, even though it was frequently down to zero degrees at night. They were delightful, shades of red, orange, yellow, peeking around the lime green leaves. In this painting, they cascade over the side of a terraced flower bed, spilling down the wall in a joyous jumble of colour. I do love the way the flowers that have gone to seed often have twisted stalks that spiral and turn, giving more movement to the composition. Palette knife, oil on canvas.
