At the western end of Sherkin Island, where the road turns sharply towards Sleive Mor, if you continue straight, you pass Denny McCarthy’s house, as it is still known. The narrow laneway is lined with fuscias, a profusion of brightest red and purple, most beautiful of summer hedgerow flowers. The lane leads on down to Tra Cru, a magical hidden little beach, where the sea is the deepest blue on this still summers day, on our timeless island paradise that is Sherkin!
