This is a two day workshop for kids aged 7-17. We will paint Ross Castle with boats in the foreground! We will be working step-by-step, and each person will have their own 16×20″ canvas painting completed after the two days. We work from photographs of the original, and from a painting which I have prepared. I demonstrate each stage, as we go along explaining and analysing the techniques and colours that I have used. Participants then paint each stage step-by-step with me. There are around 10 in the group and there will be a mixture of brush & palette knife. We will use both oil and acrylic, and there’s a bit of drawing involved too in the setting out. I will have an assistant, and we’ll make sure everyone gets enough help to get a good result, but at the same time allowing everyone to really maximise and develop their own skill. And most importantly to have fun, enjoy the process and be pleased with the result.
I like to focus on giving as much information on methods and techniques as possible, so that people have something to work with when painting afterwards.
It’s always great to paint somewhere you’re familiar with, and what better than our wonderful iconic Ross Castle!!
We take a break for snacks in the games room half way through the session.
Course Fee = €55 including all materials, deposit required.
This course will run from Monday- Tuesday during the summer break in KDYS Killarney 10am-1pm each day.
