The Old Cherry Blossom Walk, Killarney (2) 100x70cm
Framed size 1117x87cm, price includes substantial 2-piece ivory frame.
The avenue of old cherry trees was a much loved place in Killarney National Park, and many people would enjoy walking there at any time of the year, but particularly in spring when the blossom was out. It had old trees and newly planted trees, some with twisted gnarley branches and the path curved around the corner from the Demesne to Killarney House. It was re-planted a couple of years ago, and replaced by a very straight row of new litle cherry trees, which has its own beauty too. But I think most agree, the Old Cherry Blossom Walk was just so beautiful…. I have here a series of paintings of the old avenue in full bloom.
Painted using the palette knife, the delicate pinky-white blossom are crisp and joyful against the blue sky.
