Description
We pass by the River Bandon in County Cork when we drive from Sherkin on our way to Cork City. I love this spot in autumn, the river is narrow and passes under beautiful trees, glorious with their shades of rust and gold and ochre, and you can gaze up-stream to a bend in the river and the distant light. Eventually the river gathers pace and volume until it reaches the sea at Youghall.
This canvas is 30x100cm, so it is very tall and thin, and I love the way the orientation really focuses our gaze on the narrowness of the stream below, and the mighty tree tops above. It is also a good shape to fit in a tall space in a home!
Oil on canvas, painted with the palette knife to create a textured impasto.
Framed size 38x108cm. Frame is included in the cost.
