Thundering Camargue 61x76cm 

Oil on board using the palette knife, the paint is layered and textured in a thick impasto, giving movement, structure and energy to this impressive large piece. The white of the horses makes a crisp contrast against the blue of the sky and the blue of the sea, water splashing as they come crashing towards us.  I love the wild freedom of the Camargue horses, and although I worked from photographs for this painting, I plan to visit the region myself in early 2019!
