Block of 7 weekly classes, on Tuesday nights 6:30-8:30pm in KDYS Killarney.
Step-by-step painting, beginner and intermediate level.
Possible to swap to another class if you can’t make the session for that week.
We will each complete a painting on a canvas 16×20 inches, working from photographs and also a finished painting which I have prepared. I demonstrate each stage, as we go along explaining and analysing the techniques and colours that I have used. Participants then paint each stage step-by-step with me. There are up to 6 in the group and there will usually be a mixture of brush & palette knife.
The workshop is aimed at beginner and intermediate level, and I like to focus on giving as much information on methods and techniques as possible, so that people have something to work with when painting afterwards. Having said that, there’s no right or wrong way to paint, and the main thing is to enjoy it. We have plenty of chat, and always take a break for tea and biscuits half way through the session.
In this block, we’ll be painting a gorgeous spring landscape of the old Cherry Blossom Walk in Killarney National Park. The lakes and mountains are visible in the distance, and the blossom in full bloom in the foreground. We’ll be using palette knife and brush techniques.
Course Fee = €195, deposit required.
Use of studio paints is an additional €2 or 3 per class, or bring your own oil paints. All other materials included.
