Sherkin Island has many beautiful beaches, and Cow Strand is one of Sherkin’s best known. Through a good period of the summer the wild raddish fills the cliffs with a burst of yellow and white flowers. The beach has a long thin orientation, with a view of Cape Clear in the distance, and I wanted to emphasise that protrusion of rock and beach into the sea by using a long thin canvas. The unusual orientation makes an interesting ‘slice’ of sea and sand dune!
