Late last autumn, well into November when the leaves were glowing at their brightest, I was in Marley Park early one morning. It was very cold, and I knew the colour was at it’s absolute peak, and would soon be gone. So I managed to take a good few photos ( I’m always good for that!!), and did a series of paintings from under the trees looking out across the playing fields, with woodland and hills beyond. I love this composition: in a woodland, but at the edge, so there is the height and colour of the trees all around, but so much light streaming through from an open area! Early in the day, with shadows long and sharp!
Oil on canvas using the palette knife.
