Approaching The Summit, Corrin Wood 30x100cm

Approaching The Summit, Corrin Wood 30×100

Framed size 38x108cm, price includes frame

Part of a series of painitngs from Corrin Wood near Fermoy. I visited here one autumn morning, when a mist was hanging low in the trees, and as I walked the trail that leads to the summit, the mist started to clear, and the sun broke through the trees. It was magical and quite moving to tread this path that has been a significant place to so many for thousands of years.

The mound at the summit forms ‘Carn Thiernagh’ which dates back over 3000 years to the Bronze Age. The Druid Mogh Ruith is said to be buried here. Encircling the summit are the remains of a ring fort which dates to the early Iron Age.
