On the west side of the island, there is an old stone wall that runs across from east to west. It is the high spot on this headland, and was known as The Bridge. Standing up there, the view out to sea is wide open. Sleivemor is to the south, Mizen Head to the north, and Cape Clear to the West. Beyond, blue sky meets Atlantic blue sea far far into the distance, and further again. Towards the end of August the heather and furze are in full bloom across the fields, creating a beautiful patchwork of purple and gold.
