Golden autumn light fliters softly through the tall trees of the Yellow Wood, creating dappled shadows aross the path. We can see far into the distance, there is so much depth in this painting. Warm autumn colours bathe the tree tops and carpet the forest floor, all the shades of red, rust, ochre and sienna. The tall thin orientation of this painting emphasises the height of the trees, and the sense of open space.
